Community Medicine

The Training Program and its Duration:

The training program duration is 3 years, consisting of two parts, each part ends with a separate examination supervised by the scientific council of  Family and Community Medicine, then the certificate is granted after passing each exam.

Part One:

Its duration is one year (including one month for vacation), the training should includes educational and training program not less than 30 Credit hours (one hour is counted as 15 hours). The program includes teaching the science of general basic Community Medicine, introductions to other specialized programs, and selected programs which commensurate with country needs.

The optional Materials includes some Subjects as follows:   

1- Including updated subjects in Public Health Specialty and community Medicine related to country circumstances.

2- Including Subjects with international concerns e.g. updated diseases (Avian Flu, Acute Pneumonia, SARS) and matters related to international agreements as child rights and workers rights.

Part Two:

In this stage the training program depends on practical and professional training in four programs from the list below, then selecting one field to learn and train in practically, then writing the suggested research to accomplish scientific seminar according to details and training conditions. The fields are:

1- Health information system.

2- Epidemiology and Survey Systems.

3- Health Management.

4- Occupational Health.

5- Environmental Health.

6- Reproductive Health, Child and Maternity Care.

7- Nutrition.

8- School Health.

9- Psychiatry Health.

     10- Elderly Care.

     11- Epidemiology of infectious Diseases.  

     12- Epidemiology of  Noninfectious Diseases.

     13- Health Education and promote health.

     14- Management of Health Institutions.

     15- International Health.

     16- Quality of Overall Health Care.

     17- National preventive programs.

     18- Optional program which commensurate with Country circumstances.

The Training Program for Part Two: 

The training program duration for part two is two years, including training tracks and a period allowed to write a suggested thesis, and make a research then deliver it.  This training program is distributed as follows: 

- Practical training in four overall training tracks, its duration 4 months (16 months)

- 6 months as minimum duration to do the thesis and make the research.

         - 2 months for vacations and formal holidays as one month per year.
